There are a number of buildings of architectural interest. The most well-known building in Munich is the Frauenkirche (or “Cathedral of Our Dear Lady”.. The Marienplatz, or Mary's Square, is the largest square in the city. There are several large parks and green areas, but the Englischer Garten, or “English Garden”, has a number of unusual features, including a Japanese garden, an artificial wave machine for surfing, and a lake.

There are a number of culinary specialities to try in Munich, including the 'White sausage', the Leberknödel soup and Apple Strudel. However Munich is probably best known for its wheat beer. There are many pubs to enjoy in the Schwabing area.
